Method for Recovering Copper, Nickel and Precious Metals from Wastewater Neutralization Residue via Hydrometallurgical-Pyrometallurgical Combined Process

This process adopts a hydrometallurgical-pyrometallurgical combined process to recover copper, nickel and precious metals including gold, silver and palladium from wastewater neutralization residue generated by processing industries such as electronics manufacturing, electroplating, and printed circuit board (PCB) surface treatment.

The process consists of a hydrometallurgical section and a pyrometallurgical section. The hydrometallurgical section follows the workflow of leaching, copper-nickel separation, iron removal, solvent extraction, and production of refined nickel carbonate. The pyrometallurgical section includes sintering and smelting procedures, which produce low nickel matte and black copper as products.

This process boasts the advantages of strong adaptability to raw materials, high comprehensive metal utilization rate, high metal recovery rate and no secondary pollution. The comprehensive recovery rates exceed 94% for nickel, 96% for copper, 95% for gold, 90% for silver and 90% for palladium.
